Michael Cole speaks out on Pat McAfee’s shocking WWE return
The latest edition of SmackDown featured former RAW commentator Pat McAfee being revealed as Randy Orton’s mystery caller from the past few weeks. On the Monday Night Show this week, Michael Cole spoke out against McAfee and his actions:
“I want to touch on something that CM Punk got into earlier tonight. Pat McAfee, has ticked off a lot of people in WWE and around the world. I was angry at what went down the other night. I was disappointed. There is no doubt people know my relationship with Cody Rhodes over the last 15-20 years, the best of friends. But also the man that sat in that chair for a number of years, Pat McAfee, he and I were like this, as close as brothers. So that’s what makes what happened this last Friday night one of the most surreal, one of the most bizarre, one of the most disappointing things that I have ever sat through.”
CM Punk took some strongly worded jabs at McAfee during his promo segment, warning him to step away from his business and stop worrying about ticket sales. With reports that the decision to include McAfee came from high up the leadership in TKO, it will be interesting to see how things turn out in the coming weeks as WrestleMania 42 draws near.
