The WM Phoenix Open is one of the most electric spectacles in golf.
At The Masters, patrons at Augusta National aren’t allowed to bring their phones or even run at the event. That certainly isn’t the case at TPC Scottsdale for the Phoenix Open.

The fans packed into the galleries are raucous, creating an incredible atmosphere at the event. It’s by far the loudest event on the PGA Tour calendar.
And this atmosphere is brought to a whole new level on the 16th hole, the Coliseum hole. It’s the only stadium-enclosed hole on the PGA Tour, and a place where Si Woo Kim can accomplish one of his golfing dreams.

Hitting a hole in one on the 16th at TPC Scottsdale is a ‘dream’ for Si Woo Kim
Usually, golfers’ dreams include lifting the Claret Jug or wearing a Green Jacket, but Si Woo Kim has a different dream. The South Korean star has often noted that his professional bucket list includes carding a hole-in-one on the 16th hole at the WM Phoenix Open.

The 16th hole transforms a standard 160-yard par-3 into a psychological gauntlet surrounded by 20,000 raucous fans. For Kim, a player known for both his elite ball-striking and his flair for the dramatic, the appeal isn’t just the shot, it’s the chaos that follows.

He’s one of the great showmen in golf, known for his exuberant celebrations, and he has a celebration in mind if he were to ace this hole!
He said on “Gravy & the Sleeze”: “Always fun to play this week, especially with the spectators. They’re amazing. I love to play the 16th hole. I wish I had a hole-in-one there, that’s my dream. So I’m waiting to play a hole-in-one, please! I’ll take off my shirt, so that’s what I’m looking for!”

Si Woo Kim’s hole-in-one records
If anyone is equipped to pull this off, it’s the hole-in-one master Si Woo Kim. The South Korean is golf’s hole-in-one hunter!
As of early 2026, Kim has recorded six aces in PGA Tour-sanctioned play, the most of any player on tour since 2016. What truly sets his record apart, however, is not just the quantity, but the staggering distance and stage of his accomplishments.
Kim currently holds the record for the longest hole-in-one in major championship history. He achieved this feat during the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, where he used a 5-wood to ace the 252-yard par-3 6th hole.

Remarkably, this broke his own previous major record set just a year prior at the 2024 Open Championship, where he carded a 238-yard ace at Royal Troon’s 17th hole.
Beyond the yardage, Kim’s record includes a unique statistical anomaly: he is the only player in PGA Tour history to record a hole-in-one while holding the outright lead of a tournament.
Between his historic long-range strikes and his penchant for high-stakes precision, Kim’s “ace resume” has become one of the most statistically impressive, and entertaining, spectacles in modern golf.
