However, Slater and company further confirmed the story by calling Matt Cardona himself. On the video call, Cardona confirmed that the incident actually took place. Heath Slater also asked Cardona if he was able to finish the job after being interrupted by Gallows, Cardona had a hilarious response:

“No, It ruined everything for me bro. I’m f*cking in there doing my business and then… he (Gallows) ruined it all but he was more afraid than I was,” said Cardona.

JBL made fun of Gallows’ appearance during the later parts of the interview. Fans loved to see this hilarious interaction between Cardona and Heath Slater.

Heath Slater and Matt Cardona were both mid carders in WWE during the same time

During their respective careers in the Stamford-based company, both Slater and Cardona (fka Zack Ryder in his first run) were mid carders. They regularly appeared in matches usually on the opposite sides as Slater was a heel with a rockstar gimmick while Zack Ryder was usually a babyface.

Both stars left the company around 2020 and also worked for TNA Wrestling (fka Impact Wrestling). Cardona made a name for himself as the Indy King working across different independent wrestling promotions. He re-signed with WWE after nearly 6 years earlier this year.

It will be interesting to see if fans will ever get to see Heath Slater back on WWE programming again.
