WWE fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, seem to be excited about a potential Rob Van Dam return. Some are even predicting a match against Gunther, especially with Rey Mysterio unlikely getting cleared to return from a rib injury.

While others are excited for Gunther vs. Rob Van Dam, some have had enough of The Ring General retiring their favorite WWE Superstars.

It’s certainly an intriguing match, but Rob Van Dam also explained on Inside The Ring that he doesn’t want a retirement match. He doesn’t want to know what his final match will be, so that could be a problem if WWE wants to book him against The Career Killer.

Gunther’s WrestleMania plans

It has been three weeks since Gunther has been seen on WWE television. He was in a program with Dragon Lee that was supposed to lead to a match against Rey Mysterio. However, Mysterio is dealing with a rib injury and might not get cleared at WrestleMania 42.

In addition to Mysterio, a couple of other WWE stars were rumored to be facing The Career Killer in Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar. But a couple of weeks ago, The Ruler accepted Lesnar’s open challenge for WrestleMania 42.

That leaves the two-time World Heavyweight Champion without an opponent for WrestleMania 42. He’s also not the only top name with a match at the biggest WWE event of the year, with LA Knight and Seth Rollins also not having clear direction.
