If you’re watching the Masters and you noticed Scottie Scheffler waiting to hit his approach on the 13th hole, it’s because his playing partner Haotong Li was making a mess of things.
Li’s tee shot on the 545-yard, par-5 found the fairway but from there, it was a comedy of errors. He pulled his second left, his golf ball bouncing hard and going into the foliage. He swiped at his next one, his reaction indicating he wasn’t sure where his ball went.

His ball then came flying out but missed the green left and came to a rest up against the edge of trouble. He pulled out the putter for his sixth shot but hit it way too hard, his ball rolling all the way across the green down the other side, into a tributary of Rae’s Creek.
Haotong Li reacts after hitting the ball into the water for the second time on the 12th hole during the final round of the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club.
After a drop, he hit his eighth onto the green and then two-putted for his 10.
If you’re wondering, no, it’s not the highest score ever recorded on the 13th hole at Augusta National. That would be the 13 that Ken Nakajima posted there in 1978, one of three 13s around the course.

Li’s 10 came on the heels of a triple-bogey 6 on the par-3 12th hole. What a nightmare sequence at Augusta for Li. But give him some credit, as he rallied for a birdie on the 14th hole.
