Sam Roberts has confirmed that AJ Styles has retired from professional wrestling
AJ Styles lost his final WWE match at the WWE Royal Rumble Premium Live Event to Gunther. Post-match, he greeted the WWE Universe in Saudi Arabia, but refused to put his gloves down in the ring.
Despite Styles’ actions after his loss, Sam Roberts has confirmed that The Phenomenal One is retired and won’t sign with another wrestling company. Speaking on NotSam Wrestling, he stated the following:
“The fact is, in my opinion, I think AJ is done. I don’t think AJ is going to wrestle again. I don’t think AJ is going to wrestle in TNA. I don’t think AJ is going to wrestle in AEW. I think AJ Styles has retired from wrestling,”
Before retiring from professional wrestling, Styles shared the ring with John Cena during the latter’s retirement tour. At Crown Jewel 2025, the two put on an instant classic. The Phenomenal One also had one final run as champion in the company, winning the WWE World Tag Team Championships with Dragon Lee.
He even shared the ring with Shinsuke Nakamura, one final time at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIII, and unsuccessfully challenged CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship on RAW.
