The former champion took to social media today to send a message to The Cenation Leader ahead of their match next weekend. He claimed that he was the only deserving star to battle Cena in his retirement match, and you can check it out in the Instagram post below.

“The only deserving one,” he wrote.

Cena captured the Intercontinental Championship from Dominik Mysterio last month on WWE RAW. However, he lost the title back to Dirty Dom at Survivor Series after Liv Morgan interfered in the match. Morgan hit the legend with a low blow, and Mysterio capitalized with a Frog Splash to win the Intercontinental Championship for the second time.

John Cena comments on his upcoming WWE retirement

John Cena recently shared his thoughts on his upcoming retirement from professional wrestling.

Speaking with The Ringer, Cena said that he understood fans being skeptical of his retirement but vowed never to compete again following his match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

“You don’t have to believe anything you don’t want to. What I’ve been able to do over 23 years is turn a lot of non-believers around and that is by my actions. I don’t expect anyone to believe that like, ‘Hey, I’m retiring’. Oh, no. The precedent hasn’t been said. The precedent for wrestling retirement is like a wrestling wedding, like something’s going to go wrong in the wedding. No one ever retires. I understand the skepticism, and you’ll know I’m serious when I never come back.” said Cena. [16:55-17:47]
