Gunther was in action on SmackDown, where he faced Finn Balor and Kevin Owens in a triple-threat match to determine the #1 contender for CM Punk’s championship. However, the match ended in a DQ after interference from Sami Zayn.
Before the match, the former Imperium leader was also involved in a backstage segment with Nick Aldis, which was interrupted by Danhausen. The former AEW star called the Austrian “Gooner,” before asking Aldis if he could get added to the triple-threat match. However, the SmackDown General Manager denied his request.
