Gunther stunned the WWE Universe on this week’s episode of RAW as he dethroned Jey Uso and became the two-time World Heavyweight Champion, ending Jey’s first world title reign at 51 days. However, it seems that the Austrian star wasn’t surprised by the win.

Following regaining the World Heavyweight Championship, Gunther took to Instagram and posted a picture from last night’s RAW, confirming the return of his The Ring General persona.

“The General is back,” Gunther wrote in the caption.

Gunther won the World Heavyweight Championship at last year’s SummerSlam and went on to hold the title for 258 days before losing to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41 earlier this year.

The Ring General regained the title via submission, the same way he lost it to Uso at The Show of Shows in April. It will be interesting to see how The YEET Master bounces back from this devastating loss.

Former WWE employee reveals why Jey Uso dropped the title to Gunther on RAW

Jey Uso losing the World Heavyweight Championship to Gunther is surprising to many, including Tommy Carlucci, a former WWE Senior Director of International Television.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word podcast, Tommy said that Gunther might have been booked to win back the title because he carries it well.

“You know what? I think I’d like to see Jey chase him again. I mean, it’s another storyline that they rehashed over and over. But I think Gunther really carries the belt really well, and I think that’s why they made that change. [2:12 onwards] [H/T: TJR Wrestling]
