LAS VEGAS — One night after scoring one of two game-tying goals for the Golden Knights during a 3-2 win in Winnipeg, the team rewarded forward Keegan Kolesar with a contract extension.
Kolesar inked a three-year contract extension through the 2027-28 NHL season worth an average annual value of $2,500,000.
Now in his sixth season with the Golden Knights, Kolesar is one goal shy of tying a career-high of eight goals, which he’s accomplished the last two seasons.
Kolesar is one of 11 Golden Knights who have appeared in each of the club’s 29 games this season. His seven goals are the sixth-most on Vegas as the team prepares for Saturday’s showdown in Edmonton.
Kolesar, who appeared in his 300th career game on Nov. 30 against Utah, leads the Knights with 90 hits, and is one of three players in franchise history to register 1,000 hits with the club.
While Kolesar made his NHL debut with the Golden Knights on Jan. 10, 2020, he’s been a part of the franchise since it entered the league in 2017.
Acquired by Vegas on June 24, 2017, from Columbus for a second-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Kolesar played in 151 games across three seasons in the American Hockey League with the team’s past affiliate, the Chicago Wolves.
“It’s been awesome,” Kolesar told The Hockey News in October, about being a part of the organization since the beginning. “I wasn’t really sure what was gonna happen to me once I got traded here.
“Brand new team. What’s gonna happen? There were so many question marks, but I’m so grateful I ended up here. It’s crazy how fast time goes by, thinking back to that development camp, but it’s been a lot of fun.”
