The Vegas Golden Knights improved to 2-0-0 with a 5-3 victory over the Seattle Kraken.
Braeden Bowman scored his second goal of the tournament on the power play with a strong drive to the net. His goal was the only marker in the first period.
The Golden Knights got the scoring started early in the second period after Ben Hemmerling slid a neat pass to Jakub Brabenec. Daniil Chayka then dropped the gloves with Nathan Villeneuve. Viliam Kmec fired a point shot after a faceoff win by Mathieu Cataford to extend the Golden Knights lead to 3-0. Jacob Mathieu pounced on a turnover by the Kraken and scored a short-handed breakaway to make it 4-0. Jagger Firkus and Villeneuve found themselves on a short-handed 2-on-1 and made no mistake getting the Kraken on the scoresheet. A Caden Price point shot was deflected by Tucker Robertson to bring the Kraken within two goals in the second period.
With just over eight minutes remaining, Firkus registered his third point of the game with a goal to bring the Kraken within one goal. Matyas Sapovaliv scored into the empty net to clinch the win for the Golden Knights.
The Golden Knights will play their final game of the tournament tomorrow against Utah HC.
