Chris Manhertz and the Giants have reached an agreement on a one-year contract, bringing the tight end back to New York.
In his first season with the G-Men, Manhertz played in 17 games (11 starts), had three catches on four targets for 30 yards and scored a touchdown.
Known more for his blocking than his offensive capabilities, the 32-year-old also spent time on special teams.
Born in the Bronx, Manhertz never played football in high school or college. Instead, he was on the men’s basketball team at Canisius, where he played for four years.
After graduating, Manhertz pursued a career in football and was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent before joining the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad.
He finally made his NFL debut with the Carolina Panthers in 2018 and played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos before landing with the Giants last season.
