Boomer: Love would be a good fit with the Giants

Why Giants would embrace this polarizing pick in latest NFL Mock Draft | The Record

NFL Draft Season has kicked into high gear with the New York Giants working through their plans in order to make a splash in John Harbaugh’s first year as head coach of Big Blue.

We know Harbaugh’s philosophy in team building at times runs counter to NFL’s positional value debate, which creates a potentially polarizing situation at No. 5. Forget the Saquon experience. Re-train how you evaluate who you are and what you are going to be. Reset what you know about team building philosophy. Harbaugh’s Giants are going to pass on No. 1 weapon in the draft?

5. New York Giants: T Francis Mauigoa, Miami (FL). Giving quarterback Jaxson Dart more time in the pocket, leading to fewer scrambles, will help keep him healthy and aid in his development. The 6-foot-5 and 329-pound Mauigoa is a heavy presence up front who will clear holes in the running game and help protect Dart. Mauigoa allowed only two sacks, four quarterback hits and nine hurries on his 557 pass-blocking snaps in 2025. He could be a nice addition to Dart’s array of personal protectors, and he’s open to playing guard or tackle.

The Giants have plenty of issues in their secondary. So yes, they absolutely could draft LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane with the fifth pick this year — presuming he is available. Delane on Monday delivered an outstanding showing at his pro day, as he unofficially blazed through the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds.

ESPN hiring Madelyn Burke as ‘SportsCenter’ anchor after decade with Giants | New York Post

Sports host Madelyn Burke is joining ESPN as a “SportsCenter” anchor. The multi-platform host — who spent the last decade covering the Giants, most recently with MSG Network and Giants.com — will begin work in April at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, CT. The Worldwide Leader is currently determining Burke’s anchoring schedule.

“Particularly, this is kind of a full circle moment because when I was in college I actually interned for ESPN in Bristol over a summer in the production coordination office there,” Burke said in an interview with The Post. “I also worked as a runner and a PA for ESPN’s coverage of Super Bowl 42 in Arizona, which was the Giants-Patriots helmet catch game — and then I worked as a runner and a PA for Super Bowl 43 in Tampa, which was the Santonio Holmes toe drag game.”
