For the first time in program history, Florida State women’s golf is a No. 1 seed in the NCAA regional women’s golf tournament.

The Seminoles will make their 19th consecutive regional appearance and are the top seed in the 2025 Lexington, Kentucky regional. The tournament will be played at Keene Trace Golf Club – Champions Course from May 5-7.

“I’m extremely proud,” Seminoles head coach Amy Bond said Wednesday. “In golf, you lose a lot more than you win, but they’ve managed to win a little bit more this season than normal. I’m extremely proud, it’s a special group… It’s really been an exciting year for me as a coach and for us as a program.”

Fresh off the program’s first ACC tournament victory, junior Mirabel Ting feels the Seminoles are poised to compete for a national title.

“We are trying not to get ahead of ourselves after the ACC win, and we all know that we have two more tournaments, and the job’s not done yet,” Ting said Wednesday. “I texted Amy [Bond] last night and I said, ‘Hey, you know we’re not done yet. We can get one ring, but let’s go get a second one and a National Championship.”

“I feel like the team will be able to handle the pressure.”

Bond shares Ting’s sentiment about the team’s ability to handle pressure, and she said there will be a mixture of “fun” and high demand in practice as the Seminoles prepare for regional play.

The group hasn’t played the Keene Trace Golf Club – Champions Course before, but Bond said the team will get yardages to try and replicate the shots they’ll face in preparation. While practicing yardages is the most the group can do right now, the practice round before tournament play will give the Seminoles a late study guide before tournament play.

FSU senior Kaylah Williams said the team will take and share notes that range from analytical breakdowns on holes to how the golfers feel the course is playing, to try and get the best read on conditions.

That communication and connection are why the Seminoles earned a top seed and have a chance to make a postseason run. It helped the team lift an ACC title, which was clinched by Williams’ win in her match, and that has motivated her to play her best golf in the postseason.

“It was a special moment, especially coming down to my win and being able to ‘clutch-up’ for the team,” Williams said on the ACC tournament. “It brought a tear to my eye just because it showed all the hard work I’ve put in these four years and to watch myself grow and execute that, it meant a lot to myself as well.

“With the win and showing that I’ve been able to do it, I’m going to ride off that momentum knowing I’ve done it and can do it.”
