Francesca Fiorellini had a round to remember Monday.

The sophomore at LSU, who transferred from UCLA in the offseason, fired a 9-under 63 in the opening round of the 2025 Golfweek Red Sky Classic at Red Sky Golf Club’s Fazio Course in Wolcott, Colorado. Fiorellini’s round not only set a course record at the Fazio Course but is also the best round, in relation to par and by total score, in the history of LSU women’s golf.

“I had a great round,” Fiorellini said. “Started off really good, two birdies on 1 and 2. Hit almost every fairway and every green, so it was really solid.”

After her opening birdies, Fiorellini birdies three straight on Nos. 5-7 to turn in 31. Then on the back, she finished how she started, adding another pair of birdies to close in the record round.

Fiorellini leads by three shots over USC’s Kylie Chong in the individual race after Monday’s opening round.

“I was pretty confident and comfortable with my swing and with my game, so I just went out there and had fun. It was good.”

LSU leads at 14 under after the opening round, with USC (-12) and Pepperdine (-10) being the closest chasers.
