Former WWE star Gable Steveson is one of the greatest amateur wrestlers in history. Steveson shocked the world once again, this time in another sport.

Before signing with WWE in 2020, Steveson was a two-time NCAA champion and an Olympic gold medalist. He joined Kurt Angle as the only Olympic gold medalists in the history of the company. His tenure lasted four years, but he only wrestled 17 total matches.

After WWE, Steveson returned to college and finished his final year of eligibility at the University of Minnesota. He also signed with the Buffalo Bills in the NFL and began training in mixed martial arts. He made his debut at LFA 217 in September, beating Braden Peterson via a first-round knockout.

At the Dirty Boxing Championship 4 event on Thursday, Gable Steveson won against Billy Swanson in just 15 seconds via knockout. It was Steveson’s first fight under the promotion launched by former UFC fighter and Jake Paul boxing opponent, Mike Perry.

UFC legend Jon Jones was in attendance to watch Gable Steveson make his Dirty Boxing Championship debut. It will be interesting to see if he continues to conquer other different sports or shifts his focus to mixed martial arts.

Gable Steveson explains why he didn’t succeed in WWE

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show in November 2024, Gable Steveson opened up about his four-year stint with WWE. Steveson explained that he has no hard feelings with the company, and the reason he failed to take off as a WWE Superstar was having too many priorities.

“When I got to WWE, everything was great, and everything went great the whole time. It just wasn’t the right time. After I signed with WWE, I tried to go back to wrestle, and you can’t do consistently the one foot in, one foot out of everything, and as time went on, it just wasn’t the right thing. I wanted to keep wrestling and keep going in that direction, and WWE had a different direction,” Steveson said. [H/T Fightful]

Fast forward to the present time, Steveson still has his foot in several ventures like MMA, Dirty Boxing Championship and Submission Grappling. He was even linked to Hulk Hogan’s Real American Freestyle.
