In recent years, there have been a lot of father-son battles on the race track among NASCAR greats. Kevin and Keelan Harvick, Kyle and Brexton Busch, and now, Jamie and Carter McMurray.

Some fans were apprehensive when the video came out. With it being April Fool’s Day, no one wants to get their hopes up. However, it appears to be the real deal. Those seats aren’t cheap and getting fitted for one means McMurray is probably past the “thinking about it” stage.

In the video on Instagram, it appears the 2010 Daytona 500 champion is joining up with Sadler-Stanley Racing. Carter races for Phil Stefanelli, and this year is racing the full season, chasing a championship.

So, will you be tuning in to watch Jamie McMurray in the SMART Modified Tour? It has become a series where drivers have been able to truly develop and advance in their careers. Luke Baldwin, who just made his NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series debut, is a two-time champion in the series.

Of course, drivers like Bobby Labonte and Ryan Newman have found the SMART Modified Tour to be a great way to race in retirement. Now, McMurray is giving it a go. So, how will the former Cup Series driver do in his SMART Modified Tour race? We’ll have to wait and see.
