- A dealer memo may have leaked the Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC’s price.
- The base model allegedly starts at $139,990 before fees.
- The Track Pack and Special Edition models ask $139,990 and $170,970, according to the leak.
Mustang shoppers already have several excellent trims to choose from—from the base EcoBoost model and powerful GT to the extreme GTD. Now the Dark Horse SC joins the lineup, featuring aggressive bodywork and a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 producing 815 horsepower. Unfortunately, getting behind the wheel of one may not be cheap.
A leaked dealer memo posted on Facebook by Kelly Aiken of the Mustang tuning shop Kelltrac allegedly shows pricing for the upcoming Mustang Dark Horse SC. According to the document, the car could start at $103,490 before adding in the $3,000 gas guzzler tax and $1,995 destination fee—and that’s just for the base model.
The Dark Horse SC with the Track Pack is listed at $139,990 before fees, or $36,500 more than the base version. The Dark Horse SC Special Edition with the Track Pack, meanwhile, reportedly costs $170,970 before fees, though it’s unclear exactly what the Special Edition includes.
If these numbers are accurate, Ford’s newest pony car would carry a pretty hefty price tag. But it’s really not all bad when looking at the competition.
Dark Horse SC Vs The World

The most obvious comparison to the Dark Horse SC is the Chevrolet Corvette—specifically the Z06. The Z06 starts at $122,795, while the ZR1 starts at $187,495; both prices include fees. That means a Dark Horse SC with the Track Pack would cost more than a new Z06—but it does have 815 horsepower compared to the Z06’s 670, at least.
Compared to Porsche’s lineup, the Dark Horse SC is more evenly competitive. A track-focused 911 quickly climbs in price; the 911 GTS now starts at around $181,000, while a Turbo S approaches $270,000.
- Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC — $103,490 (est.)
- Chevrolet Corvette Z06 — $122,795
- Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Track Pack — $139,990 (est.)
- Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Special Edition Track Pack — $170,970 (est.)
- Porsche 911 Carrera GTS — $183,350
- Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 — $187,495
You could also compare it to the previous Shelby GT500, which debuted in 2020 with a starting price around $77,000—roughly $97,000 when adjusted for inflation. By that measure, the Dark Horse SC isn’t dramatically more expensive.
Still, it’s important to take these figures with a grain of salt, as the pricing remains unconfirmed. We’ve reached out to Ford for a comment and will update the story when we hear back.

Motor1’s Take: If these numbers prove accurate, the Dark Horse SC would certainly be one of the pricier Mustangs ever, particularly in Track Pack or Special Edition form. But considering its 815-horsepower supercharged V8—and how it stacks up against rivals like the Corvette Z06 and the previous GT500—the price may not be as outrageous as it first seems.
