NASCAR is heading to EchoPark Speedway for a weekend of racing action.

The Quaker State 400 NASCAR Cup Series race is the highlight of a doubleheader with the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

There will be fans coming in from all over the country to enjoy the races throughout the weekend. Some of them may even be attending their first NASCAR event.

Here’s an ultimate first-time fan checklist to get the most out of the NASCAR Atlanta race.

Do not forget sunscreen!

The NASCAR Atlanta race will begin in the sunlight, before turning to nighttime in the later stages of the race. Make sure to bring sunscreen, getting a sunburn at a NASCAR race is painful.

Hit those merchandise haulers

Near the fan zone, there are merchandise haulers with all kinds of items for sale. Anything from hats, t-shirts, flags, pens, pencils and, of course, diecast cars, are available in these haulers. The haulers are separated by race team (for example, Hendrick Motorsports is in one hauler with Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, William Byron and Alex Bowman merchandise). There may even be a driver in the hauler to sign autographs, if you’re lucky.

There are concession stands and food trucks around the speedway. Make sure to look around and find your favorites to enjoy at the racetrack.

Get to your seat early for NASCAR Atlanta race

You’ll want to make sure to get to your seat early to enjoy the pre-race festivities, a snack and a drink before the race. There will also be lots of standing, including for every restart, a few laps after, and as the race is coming to a close.

Can I bring cooler, food, alcohol to EchoPark Speedway?

Yes, coolers are allowed. They must be a soft-sided cooler no bigger than 14-inches by 14-inches by 14-inches. Backpacks and bags no bigger than 18-inches by 18-inches by 14-inches are allowed. Pre-packaged food and alcohol are allowed, but no glass containers.

Know prohibited items at EchoPark Speedway

The following items are not allowed at EchoPark Speedway. These can change, so make sure to keep an eye on the EchoPark Speedway website.

  • Foam or hard-sided coolers of any size
  • Umbrellas
  • Glass or ceramic containers of any kind
  • Animals (unless service animal)
  • Any firearm
  • Laser pointers, noise makers, and air horns
  • Knives longer than 3 inches in length when closed or longer than 6 inches in length when open
  • Seat cushions with armrests
  • Collapsible chairs
  • Frisbees, balloons, beach balls, or any other projectile
  • Displays of the Confederate Flag or any other offensive displays
  • Fireworks
  • Dry ice
  • Obscene or indecent clothing
  • Aerosol cans (with the exception of sunscreen sun block, hand sanitizer, and bug spray)
  • Selfie sticks, tripods and monopods
  • Illegal substances of any kind
  • Wagons
  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (drones)
  • Skateboards, hover boards, roller skates, bicycles in the grandstands or anywhere other than the EchoPark Speedway operated campgrounds
  • Items restricted by local, state, and federal laws into the Speedway
  • Due to safety concerns, fans are not allowed to have golf carts and other multi-passenger vehicles inside spectator gates.
  • Other items that in the judgment of EchoPark Speedway personnel pose a safety hazard or may diminish the enjoyment of other fans may be prohibited.

Prohibited items must either be returned to the fan’s vehicle or discarded.  Unlawful items discovered at any time are subject to confiscation, and the person in possession of those items may be denied entry and is subject to arrest.

Tips to stay cool for NASCAR Atlanta race

Here are eight tips EchoPark Speedway shared on its website to stay cool for the Quaker State 400.

  1. Stay hydratedIt keeps you cool and is your body’s air conditioner. You are allowed to bring in coolers at EchoPark Speedway so pack your cooler full of water to stay hydrated. You can also bring insulated water bottles no larger than 64 oz. EchoPark Speedway will also have water bottle refilling stations at Sections 142 and 154.
  2. Wear wicking & breathable clothingLet your body radiate your perspiration & wear cooling gear.
  3. Pack your drinks in iceIt also acts as a portable air conditioner. EchoPark Speedway allows coolers in the grandstands so freeze water bottles as insulation and pack extras to keep you hydrated.
  4. Wear a hatBetter yet, soak your hat in cool or cold water.
  5. Cool off in the EchoPark Speedway Chill Zone on SaturdayLocated in the Tara Ballroom under the Petty Grandstands.
  6. Take breaks from the sun when the action slows on the trackHead into the shade & cool off for a bit, then head back out for great on-track action. Look for the Aaron’s Cool Zone tent in the Fan Zone or our big fans on concourse to keep cool during the weekend.
  7. When it’s hot, get something coolTreat yourself to an ice cream & enjoy the summer sun. Look out for EchoPark Speedway Hydration Stations throughout the concourse that will be selling drinks and ice to speed up the process and keep you hydrated.
  8. Grab a personal misterMisting can reduce temperatures from 10-30 degrees depending on how close you are to the mister. EchoPark Speedway will also have misting fans in the fan zone and normal fans on concourse to keep you cool during the weekend.

Is EchoPark Speedway a cashless venue?

Yes, EchoPark Speedway is a cashless venue. No cash will be accepted at concession stands, souvenir shops or other vendors within the speedway. Credit and debit cards, along with mobile payment options (including Apple Pay), will be accepted.
