Scouting Focus on Yan Diomande

Speaking publicly on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano provided insight into the level of interest surrounding the winger and the current stage of discussions.

“I think it’s going to be an interesting summer for Yan Diomande.

“Because on Yan Diomande, the attention is really there. I will tell you more very soon, but I think Bayern will be there, Manchester United will be there, Tottenham will be there, Paris Saint-Germain could be there as well. So several clubs monitoring the player.

“At the moment, we are at the scouting level. So we are not at the bids, negotiations or talks. Just some conversations, following the player, monitoring the player. So it’s still early.

“But there is going to be plenty of movement around Yan Diomande, because for sure there is a lot of attention on the player. So, it’s going to be one to watch for sure in this summer window.”

Those remarks reflect the current reality. Manchester United have yet to progress into formal negotiations with RB Leipzig, and no offer has been tabled. Instead, the process remains rooted in detailed analysis of Diomande’s suitability for Carrick’s evolving squad profile.

Bundesliga Impact Driving Interest

Yan Diomande has made a strong impression during his debut season in Germany, recording seven goals and five assists across 19 appearances in all competitions. Operating primarily from wide areas, he has demonstrated acceleration, direct running and composure in the final third, attributes that have elevated his standing among Europe’s leading young attackers.

His development has continued on the international stage. During the Africa Cup of Nations, the teenager spent close to a month away from RB Leipzig, scoring once and contributing to Ivory Coast’s run to the quarter finals. That exposure has further increased visibility among Premier League recruitment teams, including Manchester United’s.

RB Leipzig remain in a strong contractual position, given the length of Diomande’s deal. Any prospective move would require significant investment and a willingness from the German club to engage. For now, indications suggest Leipzig are relaxed about the situation as the player continues his progression.

Summer Strategy at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s wider summer planning is expected to include reinforcement in midfield, particularly with Casemiro approaching the end of his contract. Even so, the club’s recruitment model continues to track high ceiling prospects such as Yan Diomande, ensuring optionality should market conditions shift.

The coming months are likely to bring greater clarity. Interest from Bayern Munich, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain suggests competition will be strong if RB Leipzig open the door to negotiations. Until then, Manchester United’s approach remains measured, focused on due diligence and long term squad building under Carrick’s stewardship.
