Panathinaikos are ready to challenge Palmeiras and Atletico Mineiro for the signature of Martin Payero, as Udinese set some clear limits for his sale.

Udinese value the midfielder at a minimum of €8-9m and crucially are not currently prepared to accept a loan deal with option to buy at the end of the season.

It has to be a permanent sale or else he is happy to remain in Serie A.

Negotiations continue with the two Brazilian clubs, but Palmeiras and Atletico Mineiro have so far not been able to reach an agreement.

Udinese purchased him from Middlesbrough for €3m in the summer of 2023 and his contract runs to 2027, with an option to extend for a further year.

He made 56 appearances for the Friulani, contributing three goals and five assists.
