There was a lot of hype surrounding Buffalo Sabres rookie Jiri Kulich at the start of the season. The 2022 first-round pick had an excellent 2023-24 season in the AHL with the Rochester Americans, posting 27 goals and 45 points in 57 games.

Kulich’s start to this season was quiet, as he scored just two goals in his first 17 games with the Sabres. At 20 years old and a rookie, Kulich is just beginning to adjust to the NHL level, so there will naturally be some bumps along the way. However, the Kadan native is now starting to break through with Buffalo.

Kulich had another impressive game against the St. Louis Blues, scoring a crucial insurance goal to give the Sabres a 4-2 lead late into the third. It was an awesome goal, too, as he made a beautiful move and skated the puck from the Sabres’ defensive zone before beating Jordan Binnington with a snipe.

With this excellent goal, Kulich now has three goals and five points in his last five contests. The youngster is starting to find his offensive touch at the NHL level, which is marvelous news for a Sabres club looking to turn around its season.

It will be intriguing to see how he builds on his fantastic stretch of play from here, but there is no question that he is feeling it.
