New York Giants coach John Harbaugh’s raid of the Baltimore Ravens’ coaching staff continued Thursday night with the news that defensive backs coach Donald D’Alesio is coming north.

D’Alesio began his coaching career at Youngstown State in 2015. His first NFL job as with the Kansas City Chiefs. From 2021-2024, he spent four seasons working under former Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. D’Alesio spent the last three seasons under Spagnuolo as safeties coach. Kansas City won a pair of Super Bowl titles while D’Alesio was on staff.

D’Alesio moved to Baltimore last season to work under Harbaugh as defensive backs coach.

In New York, D’Alesio will inherit a position group that largely underperformed in 2025.

Offensive coordinator search

Since losing top choice Todd Monken to the Cleveland Browns as head coach, Harbaugh as been busy compiling a list of potential coordinators. That list currently includes Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb, Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, Colts passing game coordinator Alex Tanney, and Los Angeles Chargers quarterbacks coach Shane Day.
