Matteo Darmian and Yann Bisseck will battle for a starting spot in defense for Inter Milan in tomorrow’s Serie A clash with Lazio.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.
Inter take on Lazio in Serie A tomorrow evening.
The Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri go into the match level on points in the table. Inter do, however, have a game in hand.
There is a real sense that Monday’s match could have real Serie A title implications.
And not just for Inter and Lazio. The likes of Atalanta, Napoli, Fiorentina, and even Juventus and AC Milan will certainly be paying close attention.
Matteo Darmian & Yann Bisseck To Battle For Starting Spot Vs Lazio
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have some injuries to work around.
The Nerazzurri will be without both Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard due to injury.
That will leave Inzaghi with few alternative options in defense.
And therefore, there is no doubt that Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan de Vrij will start in the back three.
However, Sky reports, it is not certain that Yann Bisseck will play on the right of the defense.
The broadcaster anticipate that it could instead be Matteo Darmian.
The 35-year-old former Manchester United defender is certainly capable of playing there. That is the position he started in for much of the second half of the 2022-23 season.
Darmian started on the right of the Inter’s back three in the 2023 Champions League final against Manchester City.
