English professional boxer Georgia O’Connor died, British boxing promoter Boxxer confirmed Thursday. She was 25.
O’Connor burst onto the boxing scene in 2017, when she won a gold medal at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games. She turned professional in 2021, and went a perfect 3-0 in her only professional fights. Her last fight came in October 2022. O’Connor defeated Joyce Van Ee to earn the victory.

O’Connor did not appear in a professional fight again. After battling pain for years, O’Connor was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in February 2023, a few months after her fight against Van Ee. O’Connor went public with that diagnosis in 2024.
In January, O’Connor revealed she was diagnosed with cancer. O’Connor posted about the diagnosis on her Instagram page in February, saying she had an “incurable” form of cancer.
She remained active on Instagram, informing fans of her hospitalizations and personal life. On May 9th, O’Connor revealed she married her partner Adriano Cardinali. While her Instagram handle still contained O’Connor, she changed her name to Georgia Cardinali on the site.
England Boxing — which is the national governing body for the sport in England — also posted a tribute to O’Connor, calling her “a gifted boxer and beloved member of the amateur boxing community.”
