Mike Garafolo talking Dallas Goedert and A.J. Brown – NFL Network
“Tom, they’ve had conversations. They continue to have conversations. Some folks in Philly are like ‘Will you stop? He’s not getting traded!‘ Okay, then why are they talking? They’ve had plenty of conversations. And my understanding, talking to sources informed with the talks between Eagles and other teams is, they’ve had momentum towards deals in recent weeks and days and over this period of negotiating. They haven’t completed those trades. They haven’t resulted in an agreement on a trade for various reasons. They just haven’t come together. There’s a lot of stuff going on with the Eagles. In fact, the Dallas Goedert part of this whole thing is … a big piece of it. Because Dallas Goedert had a void and if it triggered it was going to be a $20 million cap hit to the Eagles. That got pushed once. As my man Zach Berman in Philly reported, it got pushed AGAIN, now, to Monday. That’s a part of it. Because Goedert and Brown are sort of interconnected. The Eagles can’t pay Goedert if they’re keeping Brown. And they can’t take both cap hits. So, this is going to continue to go over the weekend. I don’t sense real momentum right now on this. But I’m sure Howie’s going to continue to make— have conversations … I shouldn’t say ”make calls” because he’s receiving calls … have conversations about A.J. Brown over the weekend. We’ll see. He’s still an Eagle right now. Will he be? At this point, I don’t know. I’m tired of guessing. We’ll let you know.

A.J. Brown trade talks reportedly tabled for now – BGN
While the Patriots and Rams were reportedly interested in trading for Brown, Howie Roseman was said to be firm in his asking price, in part because of the dead cap hit they’d take on by moving him before June 1.

What’s left for the Eagles to do in free agency? – PhillyVoice
Jahan Dotson left in free agency, as expected, and he’ll actually qualify toward the comp pick formula, which is a pleasant surprise. But the elephant in the room is A.J. Brown, who I still very much believe will be traded at some point this offseason, whether that’s today, next week, during the draft, or sometime after June 1. Are the Eagles good to go for now at wide receiver? It’s a strong rookie wide receiver class this year, and I’d be shocked if the Eagles don’t select one in the first two days of the draft. But the Eagles still also need some kind of competent vet to add to the mix, even if they keep Brown.

Howie the Juggler – Iggles Blitz
Right now Howie is facing a couple of very tough situations. He’s got the AJ Brown situation to deal with and he’s also trying to re-sign Dallas Goedert. Trading AJ is incredibly complex. He is a great player and the Eagles don’t want to deal him, but AJ seems to want out of town. Trying to get good value for a great player is never easy. Then you factor in the salary cap side of things and the deal is even harder to do. At this point it feels like AJ will be traded. That could happen next week, April or in June. Right now the Eagles are talking to at least three teams about this. The Patriots, Rams and Broncos all have interest. All three want to win a Super Bowl and could be in a “go for it” mode that would lead them to pay a steep price. Normally this type of deal would be Howie’s primary focus. But he’s got to juggle this with DG’s situation as well. There was a deadline on Friday for the Eagles to re-sign Goedert or they would take on dead cap money. The Eagles don’t have much cap space so the smart move is to re-sign Goedert. He’s still a solid player and it feels like he wants to be back.

The Dallas Goedert Void Date Situation – Over The Cap
Right now we estimate the Eagles with about $30 million in cap room but that doesnt include the Tariq Woolen contract so we can guess it would be in the ballpark of $25M. This all assumes his contract voids out. If they extend him his cap charge this year would probably be around $14.5 million, putting the Eagles $6M better than they were prior to this. Depending on the length of the contract with Goedert they can also do a better job of preparing for the future dead money by putting in a clause that allows then to designate him a post June 1 release. They failed to do that when they renegotiated a pay cut for him last year. It seems pretty clear that the Eagles will eventually trade AJ Brown. I doubt anyone will meet their price for a trade prior to this years draft, but if they did the Eagles would lose anywhere between $20 and $25 million in cap room (there are some rules that they can try to avoid so they hit the lower number). If the Eagles want to maintain their most leverage in trade talks to show they can trade him now that extra $6M from Goedert is pretty big. If they fail to trade any cap saved on Goedert can be rolled over to next year to offset whatever costs there are with Brown’s release or trade.

Patriots remain interested in A.J. Brown, but trade with Eagles reportedly ‘not imminent’ – Pats Pulpit
Further complicating matters for the Eagles is the status of tight end Dallas Goedert, whose contract is set to void soon to add another $20.5 million to the team’s cap. But while that deadline could have led to some action on the trade front, it appears nothing is expected to transpire in the immediate future. Obviously, though, the June 1 deadline looms large and could change teams’ efforts to pursue Brown. The Patriots are still expected to be on the forefront of that movement, with the Rams also having been mentioned as a potential landing spot. The only thing we know for sure at this point is that the Brown trade rumors will not be going away anytime soon.

AJ Brown Could Move for Right Price But Not Before June, NFL Sources Say – SportsBoom
“I still think it’s New England,” said the general manager of one team that had been probing around on Brown but is no longer in the market. A personnel executive from another team that was also seeking receiver upgrades said: “I don’t think the Doubs team takes them out of it. The quarterback can’t get paid yet. Brown is a legit No. 1.” Getting anything done before the draft may be tricky; it would give the Eagles time to draft a potential replacement. Trading Brown before June 1 would cause the Eagles to incur a massive cap charge. Brown is clearly unhappy with the situation and league sources maintain he would relish a change of scenery. It’s difficult to see that happening in the near future, however. “Howie doesn’t have to do anything now and you’re going to have to really blow him away to get it done before June 1,” said another general manager. “I do think he’ll move him for the right price, but not until June.”

Eagles add Woolen, gain strong corner trio in the process – ESPN
Eagles cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean made an impression on the newest member of the defensive backfield, Riq Woolen. As the Seattle Seahawks readied to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in early October, Woolen watched the Bucs’ tape from their game against the Eagles the previous week and was struck by how they stood out against a formidable pass attack. “When I watched that game and I seen the way [Mitchell] and Coop were tackling, they were covering, they were strapping guys up, it was pretty cool to see,” Woolen said at his introductory news conference Thursday. “Now that I’m able to be a part of that, it’s awesome because it’s like, dang, where can you throw the ball to?” Woolen left the 2025 champion Seahawks to join the ’24 champion Eagles, inking a one-year deal worth up to $15 million. On paper, Philadelphia now has arguably the most talented corner trio in the NFL.

Looking at the details of Riq Woolen’s Eagles contract – NBCSP
The Eagles achieved the low cap hit by tacking on four void years to this one-year contract — which is something they do often. But according to OTC, the Eagles also used the 50% rule to prorate another $4.74 million in salary over the length of the five years (including the four void years). That creates a prorated bonus of $2.148 million in each season.

After first wave of 2026 free agency, what are the top needs for every NFL team? – The Athletic
The Eagles still need another high-level pass rusher. Re-signing Jaelan Phillips was a high priority for them entering free agency. The Carolina Panthers spent lavishly to lure Phillips away with a four-year, $120 million contract that was beyond what the Eagles were willing to spend. They submitted an offer to Trey Hendrickson, whom the Baltimore Ravens swept away with a four-year, $112 million deal after nixing their Maxx Crosby trade. The Eagles considered trading for Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Jonathan Greenard, but ended the week signing former Atlanta Falcons edge rusher Arnold Ebiketie to a one-year, $7.3 million contract. It was an uninspiring addition in comparison to the caliber of players they were pursuing. Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt remain their top edge rushers under contract. The Eagles could still stand to add another. But with a budget that’s come up repeatedly short in free agency and the trade market, perhaps this is a hole best filled in the upcoming draft.

Johnny Mundt ‘ready to fully embrace’ Eagles’ championship standard – PhiladelphiaEagles.com
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Mundt signed his one-year deal with Philadelphia on Friday to embark on his 10th NFL season. And he’s one of the best in the league at what he does. Amongst the 88 tight ends with at least 100 blocking snaps in 2025, Mundt had the seventh-highest pass blocking grade and ninth-highest run blocking grade, according to Pro Football Focus. “When I know I make a good block in the first one and a half seconds of the play, I know I won my rep and then I see the running back down the sideline, I mean, there’s no better feeling. It’s really special,” Mundt said shortly after putting pen to paper on his deal.

Seven overlooked free-agent signings that could pay serious dividends in 2026 NFL season – NFL.com
REED BLANKENSHIP: The Texans’ spectacular secondary adds a high-IQ traffic cop with outstanding instincts, awareness and diagnostic skills. Blankenship’s steady presence in the middle of the Eagles’ defensive backfield enabled the Super Bowl LIX champions to befuddle opponents with various umbrella coverages while frequently placing their ultra-talented cornerbacks on the island. The Texans are loaded at cornerback, getting elite play from Derek Stingley Jr. and Kamari Lassiter on the perimeter. Blankenship’s ability to roam the middle as a designated playmaker should thus help DeMeco Ryans’ defense continue to suffocate the high-powered offenses in the AFC.

Washington Commanders Free Agency: Veteran RB added on 1-year deal – Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders only had one running bsck on their roster when free agency started, Bill Croskey-Merritt. They added Rachaad White who was Jayden Daniels’ RB at Arizona State, and have now added another veteran. Jerome Ford was a 5th-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2022, and he played out his rookie contract for the Browns. He started 18 games over his four seasons there, rushing 340 times for 1,463 yards and 7 TDs. He also had 107 receptions for 647 yards and another 5 TDs. He was third-string last season behind Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson.

New York Giants mailbag: MetLife Stadium grass, Steve Tisch, free agency – Big Blue View
First and foremost, there is a process that has to be followed and the NFL has to approve the transfer. The Tisch family will still own 45% of the team. It’s just that Steve, Jonathan, and Laurie will be stepping out of the group that has ownership of the team. It will be their children. I don’t know who would step forward, but Dan Duggan of The Athletic offered this as a possibility. This is a good step for Tisch and the Giants. For now, though, nothing is really changing.
