Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …

Eagles depth chart analysis: How much work is left for Howie Roseman at edge rusher, safety? – PHLY
At least going into the draft, I’d expect Marcus Epps and Michael Carter II to each get a legitimate shot to earn the starting spot opposite Drew Mukuba. Epps started the final four games of the Eagles’ season last year after Mukuba went down with an injury and played pretty well. Add that to the 25 starts he compiled with the Eagles during his first stint with the team and the 49 career starts he has overall, it’s not hard to see Epps settling in as the veteran presence on the back end next to Mukuba, who can be more of a risk taker back there. Don’t discount Carter, though. The team intends to move the 27-year-old to safety this offseason and there are some who believe his transition from slot cornerback to safety will be seamless enough for him to vie for the starting job in training camp. Roseman alluded to Carter’s ability to move to safety shortly after swapping seventh-round picks with the New York Jets in exchange for Carter, who has played 73 games mostly as a nickel corner in his career.

Eagles depth chart analysis: Major changes in secondary; more to come on O-line, edge – The Athletic
Safety: Analysis: If you haven’t checked your Eagles updates since Friday afternoon, this depth chart would surprise you. The Eagles shook up the safety spot Friday when they traded Sydney Brown to Atlanta and quickly re-signed Marcus Epps and added J.T. Gray. Mukuba is the top option and returns from a season-ending injury as a starter, but the second spot is uncertain after Reed Blankenship departed. Epps was a steady veteran following Mukuba’s injury; he had usurped Brown on the depth chart. The Eagles re-negotiated Carter’s deal to keep him around this season and are expected to give him more of a look at safety. If the season started this week with everybody healthy, they would be the top two options after Mukuba at safety. Of course, there’s nearly six months until the Eagles play. Look for this spot to evolve. Gray seems like more of a special teams signing than someone added for a defensive role. Sam and Johnson are back after time on the practice squad and spot duty in games. The Eagles will look in the draft and scour the trade market for an option. But don’t be surprised if Carter pushes for playing time.

Riq Woolen Q&A: 5 questions and answers about the new Eagles cornerback – BGN
After a quiet start to free agency, the Philadelphia Eagles made their biggest splash of the offseason thus far by signing Riq Woolen to a one-year contract reportedly worth up to $15 million. Let’s learn more about Philly’s new starting cornerback by getting a Seattle Seahawks perspective on him. Here’s what Mookie Alexander from Field Gulls had to say about Woolen through answers to my questions.

NFL Power Rankings: Risers and fallers after free agency shake up Super Bowl picture – SB Nation
6) Philadelphia Eagles. We all get force-fed the Eagles and the NFC East every year. It’s hard to find a week where at least one NFC East team isn’t in prime time. However, this is the most fascinating Eagles team in a long time. After a long season of outside noise and drama, Philadelphia could rebound and win a bunch of games or go 6-11 which leads to Howie Roseman firing Nick Sirianni and moving on from Jalen Hurts. They stay near the top of the power rankings, but they will be under a magnifying glass in 2026.

Draft Talk – Iggles Blitz
If the Eagles sign a free agent to start alongside DeVonta Smith, they don’t need to take a WR early. They can take someone in the third or fourth round, where there will still be some good options. If they don’t add a WR before the draft, they may feel the need to get a receiver in the first or second round. Omar Cooper from Indiana is the player that makes the most sense. He has a medium build at 6-0, 199. He ran 4.42 at the Combine so he’s got good speed. He can play in the slot or outside. Cooper has really good hands (see the end of the Penn State game…ugh). He’s tough to tackle and has good RAC ability. The big question is whether he gets to pick 23.

2026 NFL Draft: Every NFL team’s most valuable trade asset – PFF
Philadelphia Eagles: WR A.J. Brown. The ongoing tension between A.J. Brown and the Eagles makes him a clear trade candidate. Still just 28 years old, Brown remains a highly productive receiver, earning an 83.4 PFF receiving grade in what was considered a down season. Whether due to injuries or early signs of decline, Brown did not reach 20 mph in PFF in-game tracking for the first time in his career. Given the surrounding circumstances, the Eagles may look to move him while his value remains high, as he would still command a significant return in a trade.

Roob’s Random Observations: Why it makes sense for Eagles to trade Tanner McKee – NBCSP
If Brandon Graham does play this year, and it sure looks like he will, he’ll move up on a pretty interesting list of edge rushers who have had the longest careers while playing for just one team. Graham has played 215 games, all for the Eagles. The most games any edge rusher has played for just one team is 243 by Cameron Jordan of the Saints and second is Ed “Too Tall” Jones’ 224 games with the Cowboys from 1974 through 1989. If B.G. plays 17 games this year, he’ll get up to 232, trailing only Jordan. But Jordan is a free agent now after spending 15 years with the Saints, and he could be signing elsewhere soon, which would give Jones the most games played by an edge who only played with one team and leave B.G. in range of that mark.

Four-round 2026 NFL mock draft: Four trades shake up Round 1; Jets take quarterback Ty Simpson – NFL.com
23) USC WR MAKAI LEMON. Lemon is pegged as a slot receiver, but he can play outside just fine when DeVonta Smith works inside. This pick becomes even more important if A.J. Brown is dealt.

Ex-Penn State QB explains why the Eagles’ new OC is a ‘great hire’ – NJ.com
Clifford watched Mannion quickly rise the coaching ranks. The former Penn State QB spent the 2024 season and 2025 offseason working with Mannion in Green Bay. He knows better than most what the Eagles are getting in their first-time offensive coordinator. And Clifford believes Eagles players and fans should be excited. “Sean is salt of the earth. He loves ball. He’ll do whatever it takes,” Clifford told PennLive. “It’s a great hire. His work will speak for itself. The guys will have a lot of respect for him. I think he’ll mold well with Jalen (Hurts). Philly will be pleasantly surprised by what he brings to the table.”

The Seahawks just made the George Pickens situation more complicated – Blogging The Boys
For what it’s worth, JSN is not the only top-tier wideout expected to cash in this offseason. Puka Nacua is also eligible for a new deal and certainly could come in north of JSN. This again corroborates the idea that Pickens may be slightly south of JSN, but it feels practical to say that $40M per year is where the conversation starts.

Is Carnell Tate too good to pass up for Washington at pick number seven? – Hogs Haven
In my opinion, Carnell Tate is would be a great Z receiver who can come in and immediately become a great 1B complement to Terry McLaurin on the outside. Because of his time at Wide Receiver U under the tutelage of Hartline, he should be a high-level contributor right out of the gate and someone who can grow alongside Jayden Daniels. This new offense under David Blough is expected to resemble Ben Johnson’s offense in Detroit. Deep crossers, horizontal floods, over-routes off vertical clears and play-action downfield shots should all play into Tate’s game. We saw how aggressive Adam Peters was going after a younger weapon in the passing game, and I feel he’s not remotely satisfied with the group we have assembled here. Don’t be surprised if come Thursday, April 23rd and Carnell Tate is on the board when Washington picks seventh overall, he’s your newest Washington Commander.

NFC East 2026 free agency grades: Washington Commanders edition – PhillyVoice
I’ve peeked around at some sites who graded every teams’ free agency, and unsurprisingly the Commanders have fared well, mainly because they signed a bunch of players. But in my view, that’s really not the name of the game. The real skill in free agency is finding good value for the players you sign, and if you have to pay a little extra for a star player who is legitimately going to help you win games, then fine. The Commanders did neither. They added a bunch of players with a trait here or there, but obvious flaws in their games otherwise, and they got them all at bad values. What they did was spend a lot of their available money to marginally improve their roster. It was beginning to become clear a year ago that Adam Peters doesn’t know what he’s doing, and in my opinion he didn’t do anything this offseason to prove otherwise.

Todd McShay mock draft gives RB Jeremiyah Love to NY Giants at No. 5 – Big Blue View
Picking Love would be a violation of Rule No. 3 in Big Blue View Rules for Draft Success, which were just updated and posted on Monday. If the Giants were to select Love it would certainly be a hotly-debated decision. The only basis upon which I could support it is if they feel they need to go offense at that spot, Love is a more highly-regarded and probably more impactful prospect than wide receiver Carnell Tate or any of the available offensive tackles.
