Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …

Eight takeaways from Howie Roseman’s owners meetings media session – PhillyVoice
Howie’s stock answer on A.J. Brown questions has changed. “I understand that there’s interest in the A.J. Brown story,” Roseman said when asked an obligatory question about the star receiver. “My answer to any question on A.J. Brown is, ‘A.J. Brown is a member of the Eagles.’ From my perspective, anything you ask me about A.J. Brown, I’m going to go right back to that answer. But I understand the interest. I put on TV, and I see that there’s interest. But my answer is A.J. Brown’s a member of the roster.” #JimmyTranslation: The first time Howie Roseman got asked about the possibility of trading A.J. Brown this offseason, way back in January, he said the following: “It is hard to find great players in the NFL and A.J.’s a great player. I think from my perspective, that’s what we’re going out and looking for when we go out here in free agency and in the draft is trying to find great players who love football, and he’s that guy. I think that would be my answer.” He was then asked multiple more times about trading Brown, both before and during the NFL Combine, and he basically gave the same answer that he gave in January. But this time, after extensive reporting that the Eagles have had serious talks with other teams about trading Brown, the repeated answer was, “He’s on the roster,” lol. In my experience covering the team, when the answer is “He’s on the roster,” it usually means he won’t be for long.

That, of course, is true. It’s also true that he didn’t say he would be a member of the team in September. And I’d assume if you ask him, he’d tell you he doesn’t have a crystal ball. That’s fine. But what we don’t know right now is exactly where Brown—whose camp has investigated its options—stands on returning to play with Jalen Hurts in 2026, nor can we say for certain what suitors will remain after a deep class of receivers is mined in April. Meanwhile, June 1 remains a key date. My sense is the Eagles were never married to the idea of acquiring 2026 picks in a trade package for Brown. Always thinking ahead, I’d guess Roseman would be amenable to taking an offer that included 2027 and ’28 picks, which opens the door to wait past this year’s draft, and beyond June 1, when the cap damage of trading Brown would be spread over two years, rather than one. I’d guess the Patriots will be part of the picture, if and when the trade talks intensify again. The draft will likely determine who else is in it with them. But this certainly doesn’t feel like it’s over. And Roseman is right to believe, as such, the interest in it won’t die down anytime soon.

Eagles’ GM Howie Roseman speaks at NFL owners meetings: From A.J. Brown trade questions to Riq Woolen signing, 10 things we learned – PHLY
Roseman’s answer could be read as fatigue surrounding the subject, something certainly felt by a large faction of the fan base to an understandable degree, but generally speaking it is never confidence-inspiring for a league executive to default to “he’s a member of the Eagles.” It’s also a departure from the messaging he’s gone with when asked about Brown’s future with the team in past opportunities when he harped on it being “hard to find great players, and A.J. is a great player.” Parsing quotes aside, the most concrete reading is that nothing’s really changed when it comes to Brown and it may not for some time. The Eagles have a price they’d move him for, and other teams have yet to meet it.

Eagles jersey number updates: Riq Woolen, Hollywood Brown, and more – BGN
Since No. 0 returned to the NFL three years ago, the Eagles haven’t had a player wear that jersey number for more than one season. 2023 D’Andre Swift, 2024 Bryce Huff, 2025 Josh Uche. We’ll see how Hollywood Brown’s time in Philly goes but there’s a solid chance he’s another one-and-done. Brown originally wore No. 15 on the Baltimore Ravens before switching to his college No. 5, which he also donned with the Kansas City Chiefs. No. 5 obviously isn’t available in Philly but he’ll always love you.

NFL mock draft 2026: 2 QBs in first-round projection as Jeremiyah Love rises – SB Nation
We are now less than a month out from the 2026 NFL Draft. The NFL Scouting Combine is behind us, as is the majority of free agency, and teams are hosting Top 30 visits and conducting private workouts. Which means this is an ideal time for our latest Mock Draft. Before we dive into the picks and some big-picture thoughts after the mock draft, a word on methodology. This is more of a “what I think will happen” mock draft than anything else, based on looking at certain trends for teams and players, as well as some conversations that have unfolded over the past few weeks. Of course, we are in prime “lying season” when it comes to the mock draft, where every conversation comes with a side order of “is this truly to be believed or are there other motivations at play here?” Still, based on where things stand right now, this is just one way that the 2026 NFL Draft could unfold in the first round.

More Depth – Iggles Blitz
I think the Eagles are higher on Mukuba than some people realize. He did play well after getting off to a slow start. I think Marcus Epps can be an effective starter and there is still the question of how Michael Carter fits into all of this. There is a solid group of safeties in the draft. The Eagles will take one. We just don’t know how early.

6 takeaways from Howie Roseman at the 2026 NFL owners meetings – NBCSP
While the A.J. Brown conversation continues to dominate, the Eagles did sign veteran receivers Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore to one-year contracts. With Hollywood Brown, it’s clear the Eagles like the idea of having a field-stretcher at the position. “There have been times in our offense where we had really that vertical skillset but also a guy that can separate at the top of his route,” Roseman said. “And we had that a little, we look at our teams in ’17, I thought Nelson (Agholor) did a great job of that, bringing that to the team. If you look at ’22 team, I thought Quez (Watkins) did a good job of that. The ’24 team was structured a little bit differently but I think that really fits the skillset of our quarterback, so we got him.” And with Moore, Roseman said the Eagles learned a lot about him in the pre-draft process in 2021 and admitted this is a buy-low type of signing for a player who hasn’t lived up to his potential. Roseman also shot down the idea that the Eagles brought in Moore because of his close relationship with A.J. Brown.

The Eagles can likely go weaker at safety considering the strength they have at corner. Mitchell and Cooper are coming off All-Pro sophomore seasons. That may have made the third corner spot expendable, but Roseman locked up Riq Woolen to a one-year, $15 million deal when Phillips fell through. “It’s always good to go in with a plan,” Roseman said. “But I think that whether it’s free agency or the draft, you have to be able to pivot. You have to be able to say, ‘Hey, this is where the market’s going, or this where the draft’s going.’ And we’ve done all this work. We have all the evaluations. “Where else is there value?” Woolen was coming off a Super Bowl win in Seattle, but the Seahawks re-signed cornerback Josh Jobe instead. The 26-year-old Woolen has length (6-foot-4), speed and enviable traits, although it’s unclear how he’ll adjust to defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s scheme. Woolen’s coordinator in his first two seasons with the Seahawks was Eagles defensive line coach Clint Hurtt. He was named to the Pro Bowl as a rookie. But he’s been inconsistent and undisciplined at times over his last two seasons. “Supremely talented player,” Roseman said. “Now does he have to do to be more consistent, to hit that at times? For sure. There’s a reason that an extremely talented player was available, he knows that. I think we have some insight to who the person is.”

Faith in Jake Elliott: Roseman said he still has “a lot of faith” in Elliott, who is entering his 10th season as the Eagles’ kicker. He has struggled in each of the last two seasons, missing 15 field goal attempts as his field goal percentage twice dipped beneath 78 percent. Roseman blamed last season’s struggles a bit on the weather, saying, “I think any of us who were at our stadium last year saw that it was probably one of the worst weather (stretches) in Philadelphia.” He called it “probably the most unique that I can remember since I’ve seen there, and that carried over in our stadium.” Keeping Elliott is the most financially sensible option for the Eagles — at least for now. Roseman would have incurred an $11.5 million dead-money hit by cutting Elliott, who signed a four-year, $24 million extension in 2024.

Spadaro: The Eagles are always looking for ways to get better – PhiladelphiaEagles.com
The Eagles roster, less than one month before the 2026 NFL Draft, is a work in progress. Take the safety room, one that has already experienced significant change. Howie Roseman sees it for what it is: An opportunity to improve after some additions (J.T. Gray, maybe Jonathan Jones), some retentions (Marcus Epps, Michael Carter) and some departures (Reed Blankenship, Sydney Brown). “We drafted Drew (Mukuba) last year in the second round for a reason. We think he has tremendous potential to really make a difference,” Roseman said prior to his trip to Arizona for the NFL Annual Meeting. “This is going to be a big offseason for him. We know that. In the NFL, going from your first season to your second season is big and players look to make that important jump. We think he’s ready to do that. “Bringing Marcus Epps back is good for us. He has played really good football for us over two different stints. He has leadership, he plays with good instincts, and he’s a plus for us in the defensive backfield. Andre’ Sam has been on our practice squad the last couple of years, and we think he can take another jump. We signed J.T. Gray, who we think is one of the best special teams players in the National Football League, and he will be given a chance to contribute on defense.

How the Cowboys are wasting late-round draft picks – Blogging The Boys
Trade your late-round picks for established veterans if your cap strategy allows for it, or use them to trade up in the draft, or trade them for future picks, or draft special teams standouts that allow you to shave millions of dollars in cap space. But don’t just pick players because you have to fill up the roster, you can probably do that just as effectively with UDFAs. Don’t just sit there in the last three rounds and pick a bunch of players who’ll never amount to anything, just because you have no better idea of what else to do with those picks.

Digging into Chig Okonkwo’s 3-yr contract with Washington & the Commanders’ evolving use of void years in contracts – Hogs Haven
This is a 3-year, $27 million contract; $16.7 million is fully guaranteed including a $7 million signing bonus. The 2026 and 2027 salaries are both guaranteed. It is, in effect, a 2-year, $18m contract with a team option for Year 3 at a cost of another $9m (cash & cap). At $9m per year average annual value, this contract is tied with Hunter Henry for the 15th highest tight end deal in the NFL per Over the Cap, which feels like it could be a good value for the Commanders.

NY Giants news: PK Graham Gano finally being released, per report – Big Blue View
The New York Giants are releasing placekicker Graham Gano, according to a report from SNY. The release of the 38-year-old Gano, who has battled injuries the past three seasons, has been expected throughout the offseason. Waiving Gano will save the Giants $4.5 million against the salary cap. Rookie placekicker Ben Sauls went 8 of 8 over the final three games last season. This offseason, the Giants also signed former Miami Dolphins placekicker Jason Sanders. It was obvious that the Giants were not going to go through yet another season hoping that Gano would stay injury-free.

Andrew Berry aims to shut down Myles Garrett trade speculation: ‘Myles is a career Brown’ – NFL.com
Myles Garrett’s trade availability continues to exist in the news cycle, but the Browns remain adamant they aren’t moving him. Browns general manager Andrew Berry spoke to reporters during the Annual League Meeting on Sunday in Phoenix, dispelling rumors Cleveland made an adjustment to Garrett’s contract with the goal of trading him. “If we wanted to trade Myles, we wouldn’t have needed to make a contract adjustment,” Berry said, via ESPN. “So it doesn’t have anything to do with that.”

Sources: NFL, far apart with NFLRA, to begin hiring replacement refs – ESPN
NFL owners are “alarmed” by the state of negotiations with the NFL Referees Association and have authorized staff members to begin hiring and onboarding replacement officials in the coming weeks, league sources said Sunday at the start of the league meetings. The NFL began compiling a list of college-level officials to recruit earlier this month, and owners are expected this week to approve a sweeping set of replay enhancements to support replacement officials in preseason and regular-season games. A league source said that training of the new replacement officials will begin May 1. According to a source, once that happens, “The opportunity to reach an agreement with our current union becomes a bigger challenge, just from simple economics.”
