LEBANON – Denny Hamlin is officially on baby watch in Nashville.
Hamlin and his fiancée Jordan Fish are expecting their third child, and first baby boy, at any time according to NBC Sports’ Dustin Long.
Hamlin is at Nashville Superspeedway for the June 1 Cracker Barrel 400, the track’s annual NASCAR Cup Series race and participated in practice and qualifying on May 31. He is currently sixth in points with two wins, locking him into the NASCAR playoffs.
Ryan Truex, younger brother of Martin Truex Jr., is at Nashville Superspeedway for the race weekend and would serve as Hamlin’s backup driver if he has to leave if Fish goes into labor.
However if Hamlin cannot race in the NASCAR Cup Series race, he will not be penalized by the race series. Hamlin will receive a waiver if he misses the race because birth of a child has been given as an excused absence from a points race.
