Drew McIntyre came up short to Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event last night in what many fans believed would be a win for the Scottish Star.
While this is a huge blow for McIntyre, who also came up short to Rhodes back at Wrestlepalooza, it is actually a massive blow overall. It has been revealed following the show that this is actually McIntyre’s 13th loss in a World Championship match since his last full-length reign back in 2021.
This damning stat shows that McIntyre has lost several title matches to the likes of Seth Rollins, Damian Priest, Bobby Lashley, and Cody Rhodes, while also losing to The Miz, Roman Reigns, and Big E.
While it’s fantastic news that McIntyre has been pushed into 13 World Championship matches over the past four years, it’s also shocking that he has come up short at every opportunity.
Of course, McIntyre did win the World Championship for several minutes at WrestleMania last year when he defeated Seth Rollins, but Damian Priest then cashed in on him and took the title away.
Drew McIntyre could now go to the back of the WWE title chase on SmackDown
Drew McIntyre has been praised for his work in WWE over the past few years, and the former World Champion was expected to pick up the Undisputed title to end what has been a fantastic year.
Now that he has lost both of his matches to Rhodes in recent succession, and even though Rhodes did technically cheat to pick up the win, he could go to the back of the queue.
Heading into Survivor Series, WWE could have some new plans for Drew McIntyre, which could be a new direction for him away from the World title, while Rhodes is expected to be included in War Games.
