However, things went south in 2013, when Droese was arrested for delivering a controlled substance to an undercover cop, following which he quit his teaching role. His troubles didn’t end there. In May 2025, Droese was arrested again, this time for attempting to procure child s**ual assault content from the dark web.

There’s a new update on the case now. PWInsider is exclusively reporting that Mike Droese has been granted time until January 27, 2027, to make a plea bargain. It was noted that if the veteran star doesn’t reach out to the prosecutors by then, he would stand trial two months later on March 18th in Warren County, Tennessee, on an Attempted Aggravated S**ual Assault of a Minor charge.

A few years back in 2021, Mike Droese opened up about his acrimonious departure from WWE. He revealed that the company had convinced him to extend his deal by having him feud with Triple H. However, Droese added that once he realised that he would get relegated to a lowly spot following the rivalry, he chose to walk away rather than stick around any longer.

“I never had another singles match on any pay-per-view, so I was hoping that would have led to more matches on pay-per-views,” Droese added. “Singles matches, not just Royal Rumbles. Of course, it didn’t. Afterwards, I just kind of went back to doing what I was doing before, and they were killing me off again. I just got really frustrated and we ended up parting ways.”

Droese made a one-off return to WWE at WrestleMania 17 in 2001 when he participated in a Battle Royal, which was won by The Iron Sheik.
