The Giants will be without WR Darius Slayton for the second straight game when they take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday in their Week 7 matchup.
Slayton (hamstring) was ruled out on Saturday after not practicing all week and will not travel with the team.
Overall, he's one of five Giants that won't be making the trip to Denver, joining:
- LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring)
- LB Swayze Bozeman (ankle)
- DL Chauncey Golston (neck)
- C John Michael Schmitz (concussion)
Additionally, offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo is dealing with a personal matter, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, and won't travel to Denver either. Assistant OL coach James Ferentz will replace him on the sidelines, the team said.
Slayton has made 12 receptions for 166 yards over five games so far this season. WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey is expected to be elevated from the practice squad in his place and could play a big role for the Jaxson Dart-led offense, Raanan notes. Humphrey made four catches for 55 yards in Big Blue's Week 6 upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Recently signed WR Juice Wells, Dart's former college teammate at Ole Miss, is unlikely to be promoted from the practice squad, Raanan added.
Without Slayton (and injured WR Malik Nabers), Dart and New York will continue to rely on Wan'Dale Robinson (team-high 29 receptions for 351 yards and two TDs), as well as RB Cam Skattebo out of the backfield. TE Theo Johnson has also become a favorite target of Dart, making three touchdown catches over three games with the rookie QB.
