It feels important to note that today is April 1st. That isn’t to say that what we are about to discuss is a prank, but just so we are clear!

Back during the week of the Super Bowl it was reported that the Dallas Cowboys would be playing a game in Brazil in 2026. On Wednesday, April Fools Day, the Baltimore Banner reported that Dallas will square off against the Baltimore Ravens in the game in question.

The Ravens are headed to Brazil.

In Week 3, the Ravens will take on the Dallas Cowboys, who are the home team for the first NFL game to be played in Rio de Janeiro, two league sources told The Banner. They requested anonymity because they were not cleared to discuss the schedule publicly.

The game in Maracaña Stadium will be the first of at least three in Rio over the next five years.

This report provides several pieces of information that make the game come into clearer focus:

  • The Ravens are the opponent

  • Confirmation that Dallas is the home team

Last we saw the Cowboys internationally was in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2014 season. It had long been assumed that Dallas would not give up a home game to play internationally due to how popular the team is, but it appears that eventually everyone has to do it. It is technically their turn in the rotation.

Also of note, with all due respect to the Ravens part of this, is that the game will take place in Week 3. The exact time and date are not out yet, but that means the Cowboys will potentially be on a short week either in the lead up to this contest or coming back from it. Obviously we don’t know what Weeks 2 and 4 look like right now.

How do you feel about this?
