Carson Hocevar Furious at Pocono, Calling Series a ‘Joke’ and Calling Out Series Director originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Just days after Carson Hocevar found himself in the middle of a controversy and Spire Motorsports fined him $50,000 for his critical remarks of Mexico, the 22-year-old driver was in yet another controversy on Friday in Pocono after he delivered a stinging critique of the NASCAR Truck Series and its managing director for not knowing the rules.

The Cup Series regular — who called Mexico a [expletive] on a Twitch stream and was penalized for it with the fine and a mandatory trip to sensitivity training — was driving the No. 7 truck at The Tricky Triangle and in the third position on the outside row behind the leader Corey Heim heading into a restart with 19 laps to go.

However, the No. 11 team, which has had some crazy bad luck this season and still won four races, had another date with misfortune when coming to the green it suffered a flat right-rear tire. The driver pulled to the far outside and dropped to the back of the field.

The No. 34 of Layne Riggs in second and on the inside row assumed the lead and was the control truck going to the green, which Kevin Harvick, to his credit, clearly noted on the Fox broadcast.

NASCAR initially said the restart was under review before confirming the the No. 7 Spire truck’s penalty.

Hocevar strongly disagreed and called for his team to challenge the ruling. “What a joke!” he said over the team radio.

“Yes sir, series is becoming a joke, copy,” his spotter replied.

“Good job, Seth,” the driver derided a few seconds later, taking aim at Truck Series Managing Director Seth Kramlich.

After running out the final 19 laps and finishing 13th, Hocevar was still frustrated and probably more so considering Riggs won the race.

“Should have won,” he said over the radio. “Can’t help that somebody doesn’t know the rules.”

He’s right and based on NASCAR’s decision, that somebody just happens to be him.
