Cameron Young jumped from 16th on the PGA Tour money list to first with his victory on March 15 at The Players Championship,

Well, of course he did. Young earned $4.5 million, golf’s biggest single-day paycheck, and went from $1,971,920 to $6,471,920. He’s nearly $69,000 clear of No. 2 Jacob Bridgeman, who tied for fifth at The Players and earned $925,000.

The Players purse ($25 million) is so big that four players earned more than $1 million. Matt Fitzpatrick took home $2.75 million for his runner-up finish (jumping to 7th on the overall list), Xander Schauffele made $1.725 million (moving to 11th) and Robert MacIntyre pocketed $1.225 million (moving to 21st).

Bridgeman and No. 3 Akshay Bhatia have a chance to pass Young this week at the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, March 19-22 at the Innisbrook Golf Club in Palm Harbor. They’re in the field, with $1,638,000 going to the winner, while Young is taking a break.

Millionaires Club is growing

There are now 41 players who have earned $1 million or more on the golf course this season, largely the product of The Players and three Signature events in the past five weeks.

But that still lags behind last year, when there were 50 players with $1 million or more through The Players.

There are 23 players who have earned $2 million or more and nine or have earned $3 million or more.
