SPEEDWAY, Ind. — For about 20 minutes on Sunday, Bubba Wallace just sat in his 23XI Racing Toyota race car thinking about everything but leading the Brickyard 400.

He was just five laps from winning a crown jewel even on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series when rain started to fall at the south end of the track, mainly in Turn No. 1.
