Bubba Wallace was a top 2 driver in the point standings for most of the first seven races of 2026; however, it all came crashing down at Martinsville Speedway. After Wallace got into the back of Carson Hocevar in the Final Stage, it triggered a wreck that knocked him out for the rest of the event.
Following the race, the 23XI Racing driver now sits 11th in the standings with a 48-point advantage to the Chase bubble. Wallace didn’t expect to be 11th in the standings heading into NASCAR’s first off weekend, but it is a perfect example that everything in this sport can change very quickly.

It is the second straight race that Wallace has finished outside of the top 30 spots. Now, the driver of the No. 23 car has to find the consistency that has seemingly disappeared over the last few weeks.
