Bryson DeChambeau’s partnership with LA Golf has come to a sudden end, despite both sides appearing perfectly aligned over the past few years.

The two-time US Open champion had become synonymous with LA Golf shafts and, more recently, its club heads.

But behind the scenes, tensions over ownership and control have brought one of golf’s most distinctive player-equipment relationships to a close.

Bryson DeChambeau and LA Golf split after ownership dispute

LA Golf founder Reed Dickens confirmed to GOLF.com that DeChambeau and the company are parting ways following a disagreement over ownership.

According to Dickens, DeChambeau, through a new business advisor, pushed to become the majority owner of the company.

The LIV Golf star reportedly held around two percent of LA Golf but sought 51 percent control.

“Bryson is gonna walk unless he gets 51 percent,” Dickens said, revealing the ultimatum that led to the breakdown in talks.

“Bryson’s got 2 percent of the company. And I think the guy doesn’t realize that he’s dealing with a redneck.

“And I say, ‘There’s no path for that.’ They played chicken with me, and now we’re going to graciously part ways.”

Despite the strong words, Dickens insisted there is no personal animosity.

“Bryson and I actually have some of the same tendencies, and I have nothing but respect for him,” he added.

However, he also admitted that DeChambeau’s demands were difficult to sustain within the company’s long-term structure.

“Bryson needs someone serving him 24 hours a day; he needs somebody to build him his own clubs, and that’s not scalable for us.”

Bryson DeChambeau’s major success with LA Golf equipment

The breakup is striking, given how much success DeChambeau enjoyed using LA Golf equipment.

He won the Covid-delayed 2020 US Open at Winged Foot with 14 LA Golf shafts in his bag, and he repeated that formula at the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst.

At the 2025 Masters, where he played in the final round alongside eventual champion Rory McIlroy, DeChambeau once more had a full set of LA Golf shafts in play.

Beyond shafts, LA Golf also produced bespoke club heads built specifically to suit his one-plane swing and extraordinary speed.
