Bryson DeChambeau delivered another big LIV Golf moment on Sunday, edging Jon Rahm in a playoff to win LIV Golf South Africa at Steyn City. Both players finished tied at 26-under-par after a thrilling final round, but DeChambeau held his nerve when it mattered most. He closed out the win after a composed playoff performance, taking home the handsome $4 million first prize and adding another title to his LIV Golf resume.

But the victory meant far more to him than just another trophy. DeChambeau was visibly emotional after the round, and his words explained why.

“I wish I could tell you. A lot has happened in my life in the past week,” he said. He then thanked the people around him, saying he was “just so grateful for my team, the Crushers, everybody supporting me.”

The American also opened up about the mental side of the week. He admitted that he had been leaning on his faith to get through everything.

“I was just praying all day, praying to give me the perseverance to move forward and keep looking forward,” he said.

“South Africa was unbelievable. I mean, got to be the best live event we’ve ever had and I’ve had you for eight straight days plus two playoffs. I guess I need to bring you to the Masters or something,” DeChambeau added.

DeChambeau also reflected on the bigger picture. He said golf can be unpredictable and reminded himself that life is about more than results. “Golf is a fickle game,” he said. “You work so hard at it your whole entire life and you realize that golf is just golf and there’s a lot more to life than just golf.”

The win also marked back-to-back LIV Golf victories for Bryson DeChambeau after his triumph in Singapore last week. That makes it an even stronger run for the two-time major champion, who now heads toward The Masters with serious momentum and belief.
