Chase Briscoe used a push from Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Ty Gibbs to win Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs race at Talladega Superspeedway, clinching a spot in the Championship 4 for the first time in his career.

Briscoe survived NASCAR Overtime to earn his fifth Cup Series win and his third of the 2025 season. He won by 0.145 seconds over Todd Gilliland.

Leading with two laps to go, Chris Buescher threw a big block down the backstretch on William Byron, but Byron’s push from Carson Hocevar was too much for the No. 17 RFK Racing Ford, sending him spinning into the inside wall. That set up the only overtime attempt of the afternoon.

Gibbs finished third, while Bubba Wallace finished fourth and Cole Custer fifth. Carson Hocevar, Tyler Reddick, Christopher Bell, Zane Smith and Brad Keselowski completed the top 10.

Kyle Larson led the race on the final lap coming down the backstretch but appeared to run out of fuel and finished 26th, one spot behind Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron, who spun from inside the top 10 coming to the checkered flag.

At Lap 52, Erik Jones pushed Noah Gragson around and into AJ Allmendinger while battling for the lead, triggering a nine-car crash that also took out playoff driver Chase Elliott. Allmendinger exited his Kaulig Racing Chevrolet under his own power but laid on the ground to catch his breath before walking to an ambulance. He was later evaluated and released from the infield care center.

Elliott, who finished 18th last weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, now faces a must-win situation next weekend at Martinsville Speedway.

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Martinsville next Sunday (2 p.m. ET, NBC, Peacock, HBO Max, MRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, NBC Sports App) to solidify the Championship 4.
