We are officially moving into NFL Draft mode on Mile High Report. We’ll be trying to keep up with the individual draft profiles for players we think or hope the Denver Broncos might target next month along with whatever other news might come out around the free agency period. I am sure there is another former-Broncos or two out there that needs a contract. I kid, I kid! I love what they have with this team and they would have gone to the Super Bowl and likely won it if Bo Nix and J.K. Dobbins hadn’t both gotten injured.
Broncos mock draft simulator
There wasn’t much news today to talk about, so I’m replacing that section of the MHR Roundup with a mock draft simulator. I used the one over at FanSpeak, but I may mix it up to see how different all of the popular simulators are. Here is how it landed:
I’m not going to lie. I’d be overjoyed for this draft haul… which tells me it is about as realistic as expecting the Broncos to sign a big name free agent in 2026. Besides, I am pretty sure Kenyon Sadiq’s 40-time is going to ensure he is nowhere near the 30th pick in this draft. It was a fun thought, though.

It was a quiet day over in the feed. I had one of those Monday’s myself, which is why we’re running a bit late on the roundup this evening. I will say, if Caleb Lohner can come along and develop into an NFL-level talent at tight end, he would make a very fun red zone target.

Broncos draft history
Maybe we should trade out of the 30 spot…
For today’s history review, I decided to look at who the Broncos have drafted with the 30th overall pick in their draft history. Surprisingly, they only have two in their entire franchise history. One in the first round and the other at the front end of the second round. Let’s take a look at these two picks.
1991: Round 2, Pick 30: Tight End Reggie Johnson
I was neck deep into Denver Broncos football by 1991. I had already endured multiple humiliating defeats as a fan living in northern California and I made it past the San Francisco 49ers debacle in tact. That said, I literally have never heard of this guy before today. He played in Denver for three seasons before moving on to other teams to round out a 7-year NFL career. Not a bad deal for most draft picks. His best season with Denver was in 1993 when he caught 20 passes for 243 yards and a touchdown. I supposed I was all about Shannon Sharpe by then too.

1998: Round 1, Pick 30: Wide Receiver Marcus Nash
Whew, there were early signs Mike Shanahan wasn’t going to be a great drafting coach. Nash would have been the first sign. He totaled just 4 catches for 76 yards in his short NFL career. Though he may have been a first-round bust, he did secure a Super Bowl championship with the Baltimore Ravens in his final season.
After looking over those two 30th picks, I sure hope Denver breaks the trend with that pick here in 2026. Or maybe a good trade back might make some sense.
