Triple H made the announcement in a post on Instagram, sharing a video package of Brown’s career and revealing that he will be inducted into the Legacy Class. The Game also highlighted the late star’s accomplishments in the caption of the post.

“From standing on the podium at the 1976 Summer Olympics to the center of the ring at #WrestleMania IV, Bad News Brown was a fierce competitor with an attitude to match. For his accomplishments in combat sports and contributions to @WWE, it is a pleasure to announce his induction into the 2026 Legacy Class of the #WWEHOF,” he wrote.

A judo athlete, Bad News Brown won a bronze medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, becoming the first African American to win a solo Olympic Games medal in a sport other than boxing or track and field.

He made his name in Stampede Wrestling before joining WWE in 1988 and stood out due to his unique personality. He competed in the battle royal at WrestleMania IV and came out on top after last eliminating Bret Hart.

During his time in the promotion, he also feuded with Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, and Roddy Piper before leaving the promotion in 1990. Brown passed away on March 6, 2007, after a heart attack at the age of 63.

Former two-time WWE Champion was also announced for the 2026 Hall of Fame

The lineup for this year’s Hall of Fame is getting filled up pretty fast. After Stephanie McMahon was revealed as the first inductee last year, a number of other names have joined her.

Apart from AJ Styles and Demolition, Dennis Rodman was named as the Hall of Fame inductee, taking his place in the Celebrity Class. Recently, Triple H revealed that former two-time WWE Champion Sid Eudy, popularly known as Sycho Sid or Sid Justice, will be inducted into the Legacy Class of the Hall of Fame this year.

With Bad News Brown’s inclusion, the number of inductees for this year’s ceremony is now up to six.
