As the arena cut to black, Je’Von Evans turned around, and it was Tony D’Angelo, who was last seen in NXT on July 29th this year. While that appeared to be the conclusion of his NXT run as he shed the last bits of his “mob boss” character, he returned and took Evans out, staring down at Oba Femi – the man he defeated in 2024 to become the NXT North American Champion.

Although Femi is truly the ruler of NXT, as he has proven throughout his dominant year in 2025, Tony D’Angelo is a name that clearly came back to haunt him in that instance. Apart from Ricky Saints, only D’Angelo has toppled off the dominant ruler of NXT, and with his return, a statement has been made.

Je’Von Evans will get another shot at the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil, but D’Angelo’s presence adds another layer to this story.
