Drew McIntyre faced his worst nightmare in an Undisputed WWE Championship Match

Drew McIntyre can’t seem to catch a break since dethroning Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship in a Three Stages of Hell Match on the January 9th edition of SmackDown.

The two men have been engaged in a long-running saga since last year.

The Scotsman has been doing everything in his power to ensure the American Nightmare doesn’t get another crack at the most prestigious prize in all of sports entertainment.

He added a no-rematch clause in a contract signed by the SmackDown General Manager, Nick Aldis. However, rules have little effect, especially when it comes to house shows.

Rhodes and McIntyre have been fighting over the Undisputed Championship at live events since last month. The rivalry continued last night during WWE’s Road to WrestleMania tour in Lubbock, Texas.

In the main event of the show, Drew McIntyre defended his Undisputed Championship against Cody Rhodes. The Scotsman nearly walked out in the middle of the match, but the American Nightmare stopped him from retreating.

Cody Rhodes was in a strong position to conquer Drew McIntyre before the Scotsman took an easy way out and intentionally disqualified himself. He struck the QB1 with a steel chair, forcing the referee to call for the bell.

As a result, Cody Rhodes officially prevailed, but didn’t win the Undisputed Title due to a disqualification. The aftermatch saw McIntyre assault Rhodes with a steel chair.

However, the American Nightmare rained on his post-match celebration, putting him through the table to send the fans home happy.

Cody Rhodes moves one step closer to getting back his Undisputed WWE Championship

Cody Rhodes has been working his way up to get another title opportunity.

He was robbed of his third Royal Rumble win when Drew McIntyre eliminated him from the outside. The Scotsman continues to be a thorn in the side of the American Nightmare.

During the February 13th episode of SmackDown, Drew McIntyre attacked Jacob Fatu and Cody Rhodes in his failed attempt to help Sami Zayn qualify for the Elimination Chamber Match.

However, his plans backfired when the American Nightmare defied the odds and punched his ticket to the Elimination Chamber in Chicago.

Rhodes is now one win away from booking his WrestleMania main event berth in Las Vegas this year. Will McIntyre let it happen? Only time will tell.
