Bayer Leverkusen have signed Senegalese wonderkid Abdoulaye Faye from Swedish side BK Häcken, according to Kicker.

The 20-year-old central defender has played just six top-flight games for Häcken, but the Bundesliga side clearly like what they see.

Faye was contracted to the Swedish side until 2026, but B04 have opted to pay him out of his contract with a transfer fee between €2.8m-€3m.

Following the transfer, Faye is expected to be loaned straight back out in order to develop his potential.

It’s unclear whether he’ll be loaned back to the Swedish side or elsewhere in Europe.

Prior to his six top-flight games with Häcken, Faye played 22 second-division appearances for Örgryte IS. It’s obvious that his experience in Europe is still very limited. However, B04 are confident of his potential and hope to put him on the right path in order to be successful in the future.
