San Jose Sharks goalie Yaroslav Askarov had a spectacular performance, but the San Jose Sharks blew another third-period lead and lost to the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 in overtime on Saturday at Rogers Place.

Leon Draisaitl scored the overtime-winning goal after being held off the scoresheet until the third period. Zach Hyman and Mattias Ekholm scored for the Oilers, who have lost just their second game in the last eight. Calvin Pickard made 20 saves.
Askarov stopped 39 shots, including all 23 he faced in the second period. The Sharks scored goals from Luke Kunin and Jan Rutta, extending their losing streak to four.
The Sharks were on their heels all night but did a good job keeping Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl quiet until the third period. San Jose did itself a favor by staying out of the penalty box. Edmonton had only two power plays and failed to score on both.
Kunin gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead after Alexander Wennberg fed him a terrific pass in the slot from the corner.
Connor McDavid went around the entire offensive zone before he found Zach Hyman on the far side to tie the game 1-1.
Rutta gets his first goal of the season on a delayed penalty. Rutta took a puck at the point and used an Oilers defenseman as a screen to beat Pickard.
Askarov kept the Sharks ahead during the second period, making 23 saves, including some incredible highlight-reel ones.
Ekholm tied the game 2-2 with 17.3 left in the period after an emphatic push by the Oilers.
