After learning that he ran a 4.33 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, Arkansas running back prospect Mike Washington Jr. could no longer hold back his tears.
“I’m so emotional, man. I worked my entire life for this,” Washington told NFL Network’s Stacey Dales.

Washington’s 40-yard dash time led all running backs in a year, reportedly the fastest running back group in Combine history. Despite being 6-1, 223, Washington has always been a big part of his skill set.
The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman ranked Washington No. 20 on his revised Combine edition of the Freaks list.
“I hear he should run the 40 in the 4.4s,” Feldman wrote. “Someone described him as ‘super explosive’ and said he will be in the running for pound-for-pound tester among the running backs.”
Washington rushed for 1,070 yards and 8 touchdowns in his first year at Arkansas last season. He also had 28 catches for 226 receiving yards and a touchdown. His rushing yards, receiving yards, and rushing touchdowns were all career highs.
