Anthony Kim spoke out after his remarkable final round clinched victory at LIV Golf Adelaide on Sunday.

Some people might have expected Kim to take a back seat alongside Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau in the final group at LIV Golf Adelaide. But he had other ideas.

The 40-year-old started the day five shots behind both Rahm and DeChambeau. However, he completely stole the show at The Grange, taking a three-shot lead down the stretch.

Kim was overcome with emotion as he drew nearer to securing his first professional victory in almost 16 years.

Kim’s approach shot on the 18th hole finished pin-high, effectively sealing the win. Fans then crowded in around the green, eager to see his finish up close.

He was clearly taken aback by it all and admitted he did not know quite what to say.

“I don’t really know what to say right now. It’s a bit overwhelming right now. But I’m never not going to fight for my family. God gave me a talent and I was able to play some good golf today,” the 40-year-old said.

“I knew it was coming. Nobody else has to believe in me but me. For anybody that’s struggling, you can do anything.

“I knew this was going to happen. But for it to actually happen is pretty insane. I just want to thank all the people that have supported me, including you. When I was not playing well, I was struggling, I was on the verge of never coming back to LIV, always supported me. Thank you to everyone for being in my corner.”

Kim’s win marks an incredible turnaround. Not only did he spend nearly 11 years away from the sport, but he was also relegated from LIV just last season.

He had always maintained that his game was heading in the right direction, though putting together three solid rounds had proven elusive.

LIV’s shift to 72 holes seemed likely to make things even harder for him – even after earning his way back through the Promotions Event in January. It is worth noting, too, that Kim did not actually win that event.

But on Sunday, he came within a shot of matching the course record with an impressive display.

It might be premature to call this comeback complete. Kim looks like he is just getting started again.
