Alex Weir and Anna Swan, by diverse outcomes, were the Aug. 10 champions of their respective stroke play tournaments at the Kahwka Club.

Weir finally won an Erie District Golf Association major after multiple second-place finishes since the start of this decade. Up by four strokes at the start of last round, he held off a significant push by Mike Garcia for a one-stroke victory in its 54-hole Amateur Tournament.

Weir finished first with a 7-under par 209. He won with a par on Kahkwa’s 18th hole to the bogey five for Garcia (6-under).

The duo’s drama contrasted to the Erie District Women’s Golf Association’s Stroke Play Tournament, which completed action ahead of the men’s final round.

Anna Swan not only won that 36-hole event for a third straight summer, but by a record margin. Her 4-under 140 was 13 shots better than the 9-over tie for Karlie Zabrosky Chaffee and Cora Hirz.
