Alex Bowman is back. Bowman will drive the No. 48 car for Hendrick Motorsports at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend, the team announced. The driver of the No. 48 car has been out for the last four NASCAR Cup Series races after being diagnosed with vertigo following the event at Circuit of the Americas.
Now that Bowman is back in the No. 48 car, the attention can shift towards his performance. With 19 races left in the regular season, Bowman is 144 points behind the Chase bubble, meaning he needs to make up roughly 7.5 points per race. Meanwhile, the No. 48 car is 100 points back in the owner standings.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver has enough time to make up 100 points for the No. 48 car, but 144 points might be too much. More than likely, Bowman will need to win a few races if he wants to make the Chase. Either way, it is great to see Bowman back in NASCAR after dealing with vertigo.
